Our Place

Gan Gani Kindergarten is conveniently located in the beautiful and leafy surrounds of Fig Tree Pocket.

Our unique location offers our children a hands-on experience of a semi-rural, country like outdoor environment with a close knit community feel.

We’re just 20 minutes from the Brisbane CBD which means we’re not too far for parents to drop their special ones off and not too close to be disturbed by the hustle and bustle of the busy city.

As a single unit kindy, we have one play and learning room which is well equipped and easily accessible.

Filled with high quality and open ended resources including books, musical instruments, and arts and crafts materials. There is plenty for our children to do, learn and interact with.

We have a rotating schedule of special items and features to keep the space exciting and new, including the chicken hatching program through Henny Penny (the kids LOVE the baby chickens) and various museum artefacts to support our learning.

Our playground is designed specifically to encourage safe and natural play. This first class outdoor facility offers ample room for imaginative and creative play, while providing physical challenges and mentally stimulating opportunities for investigation. 

The large space includes a digging patch with mud kitchens, a sandpit, fort, swing, cubby house, sound corner and recycled sound garden for music-making, construction zone, wide, open spaces and private nooks for children to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Our stunning and beautiful facilities include:

  • Natural bee hives

This rich environment presents Gan Gani children with the unique opportunity to connect with nature and learn about lifecycles, sustainability and the environment.

Plus, we love our lovely chickens! Whether it’s collecting eggs, putting out fresh food or having gentle cuddles, we believe that giving children the opportunity to nurture animals teaches them invaluable lessons about empathy, relationships and nature.

Sustainability is an integral part of who we are and how we operate as a community kindergarten.  We foster mindfulness in our daily choices at kindy and in the home to encourage understanding of the impact of our decisions.  By sustainability we mean:

  • Our relationship with our friends, family and community.
  • Our relationship with the many other species we share our environment with.
  • Our relationship to other lands, places and people who will always be with us.
Our vision: To tread lightly and minimise our footprint on our Earth through sustainable actions and education. Our goals:
  1. To utilise learning opportunities outdoors to encompass all curriculum outcomes.
  2. To support children so they feel empowered to make a difference.
  3. To enhance our children’s ability to critically engage through discussion, projects and hands-on experiences.
Our activities:
  • We use a soft plastic recycling bin, compost bin and general waste bin.
  • We encourage children to bring in food scraps from home for our chickens.
  • We encourage litter-free lunches.
  • We collect and use eggs from our onsite chickens.
  • We sustain native bee hives and pollination gardens for promoting pollination.
  • We run recycling show and tells.
  • We actively participate in Containers for Change Program and 1-World Recycling.
